Join us for five days as we spend a few hours learning to perform manual calculations. These lessons will help anyone to fully understand calculations and the data involved. These lessons will prepare participants for the calculation portion of the NICET Exam.
Day 1: Review of Basics 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM CDT
We will review the important points of lessons from The Very Basics class. We will use real systems to determine the flows needed for Sprinklers, the System, and Fire Hoses.
Day 2: Flow and Friction 10:00 AM - 12:00 AM CDT
Once we know the flows required, we will need to determine the energy it will take to move the water through the system.
Day 3: Paths and Calculating Branchlines 10:00 AM - 12:00 AM CDT
This lesson will discuss the different paths that water takes as it feeds the system. We will learn how describe the paths. We will select different points along the paths and give them names or tags. We will also perform our first calculation through a branchline.
Day 4: The Full Calculation 10:00 AM - 12:00 CDT
In this lesson, we will calculate an entire system. We will take time to understand each step along the way. The participants will be expected to perform a calculation on their own as ‘homework’.
Day 5: Calcs Review and Reports 10:00 AM - 12:00 CDT
For our final lesson, we will review the ‘homework’ calculation. Then we will review and compare computer-generated hydraulic reports for the calculation.
