Code Development

Through our consulting work with the National Fire Sprinkler Association, we represent the industry on major code committees that have a direct impact on public safety.

Our representation on the NFPA 13 Committee directly affects the rules for the design and installation of fire sprinkler systems worldwide. NFPA 13 is The Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems.

The Academy’s work on the NFPA 3 Committee is helping to shape the requirements for the continuous upkeep of fire and life safety systems that interact within the built environment. NFPA 3 is The Standard for the Commissioning and Integrated Testing of Fire and Life Safety Systems.

The Fire Sprinkler Industry’s Best Practices program is working with The Academy to develop the original best practices being put forward by the fire sprinkler industry. We participate on the content development team for the design discipline within the industry.

We have been instrumental in helping with the Plan Review Program being developed by the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

In addition, we supported the fire sprinkler industry through our involvement with the Ohio Fire Safety Coalition and our visit to Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.
