Certificate Program

The Academy's Certificate is awarded by the Illinois Fire Service Institute at the University of Illinois.

To complete the certificate program, students will be required to finish the first two semesters of classes required at the Academy. These classes can be carried over into the degree program without loss of credit if the student further decides to pursue a degree. With the recent change in the residential building codes, fire sprinkler systems will be required in all new one and two family homes. The fire sprinkler industry will need to train as many technicians as possible to meet the demand that will be generated by this new requirement. The Academy is leading the way with the first certificate program intended to focus on designing fire sprinkler systems in residential applications. Upon completion, students will have completed at least one real world project and will ready for work at a fire sprinkler contracting company.
